A deteriorating roof had resulted in the infestation of birds in the attic story of a South End resident's home. The resulting destruction of property and health concerns caused the resident to contact South End Improvement Corporation (SEIC) for help. Using RESTORE grant funds in December of 2007, the roof was able to be repaired. The birds and their nesting were removed, and both the roof and the attic were reconstructed and freshly painted.

In January of 2008, RESTORE helped fund an elderly South End resident with various home repairs. Ceilings and floors were replaced in both the living room and dining room. Old, rotting basement stairs that were extremely dangerous to use were replaced with new, solid ones. As a necessity, a bathroom was even installed on the first floor for the elderly homeowner.

SEIC’s RESTORE grant was able to help out a Leedale Street resident with a basement repair in December 2007. The basement floor was wet, causing mold to grow. Since mold can be extremely dangerous to the residents’ health, the issue was addressed immediately. The floor was repaired, the mold was removed, and new concrete was poured.
